The Jeffrey C. Evans Geotechnical Lab is introduced to students in CENG 330: Soil Mechanics. The lab portion of this course is an introduction to laboratory methods for determining soil properties. Some of the tests conducted in this lab are consolidation testing, shear testing, triaxial compression testing, plastic limit determination and soil classification.
The director of the lab is Dr. Jeffrey Evans.
Some of the more prominent pieces of equipment are consolidometers, shear testing machines, drying kiln, triaxial compression control boards, and a compression testing machine. Soil samples used in this laboratory are often gathered by a drilling rig which is stored, when not needed, in the Structural Testing lab building.
