Water Budget of a Watershed Dominated by Subsurface Storm Flow: Impact of Urbanization

The purpose of the work done in this study has been to examine the effects of developing a realistic watershed. The development of a watershed generally has a great impact on the hydrology of that watershed, and it is thus important to gain an understanding of the changes that will occur ahead of time. The study was done through extensive modifications of Hornberger's [1998] simplified version of the hydrological modeling program TOPMODEL, called TOPRUN. TOPRUN was originally designed to work with data from Watershed 36 of the Coweeta Long Term Ecological Research program, at Coweeta, NC. TOPRUN modeled stream flow and runoff over one hydrologic year based on daily precipitation and evaporation data.
