Description: The Bucknell University Orchestra is the oldest continuous musical organization on campus. Founded in 1889 by Professor Jean Aviragnet, the orchestra is composed of students and faculty from all departments of the university. It is the mission of the orchestra to provide an outlet of musical expression for students and faculty by the performance of a wide variety of orchestral music. The choir consists of 14 members who are selected by audition and who represent diverse major fields of study at Bucknell University, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business administration, education, and engineering.

- Symphonic Band

Description:The Symphonic Band is the central ensemble of the University Bands program at Bucknell. Recently, the Band was one of only four university bands from the East selected to perform for the conference of College Band Directors National Association. Membership generally numbers from sixty-five to eighty personnel. Programs are selected from some of the most challenging and rewarding music of the entire band repertoire. Recent programs have included music by such composers as Holst, Grainger, Reed, Copland, Shostakovich, and Whitacre.
