Getting Involved

Bucknellian Staff

The Bucknellian invites any interested student to get involved with the paper. You do not need prior newspaper experience, nor do you need to have taken journalism in high school. Our staff trains students in news and feature writing, photography, page design and layout – wherever you interests lie. There are plenty of opportunities for increased responsibility as you gain experience with the paper. Altogether, about 65 students are involved with The Bucknellian in some capacity over the course of an academic year, including an editorial and business staff of approximately 25 people. The paper is divided into five editorial sections – News, Opinions, Sports, Features and Arts and Entertainment. Each section has an editor in charge of assigning stories to writers and an editor in charge of laying out the section. If you are interested in the non-editorial side of the newspaper, there are positions in advertising, circulation, marketing, copy editing and photography.

Overseeing this organization is the editor-in-chief, who is assisted by an associate editor and a managing editor. These are elected positions voted upon by members of the editorial board, made up of section editors and senior editors.

For more information about getting involved, contact the current editor-in-chief, Brianna Delvalle '08, at bucknellian@bucknell.edu.
