Guidelines for Submission of Manuscripts

University Press

  1. Potential authors should initially submit a letter of proposal and cv. The proposal usually addresses in a few pages the substance and the argument of the book, places the study in the context of existing scholarship, and includes a brief bibliography.

  2. The University Press usually considers manuscripts that are not under active consideration at another publisher.

  3. The University Press does not usually publish manuscripts of which more than 50% has already appeared in print.

  4. We require one hardcopy of the manuscript (unless more than one is requested), preferably formatted according to the standards of the Chicago Manual of Style (latest edition). Please include a title page with your name, a table of contents, and paginate consecutively. Complete the manuscript information sheet and include it with your manuscript.

  5. Manuscripts accepted for publication will eventually be required to be submitted on CD or computer disk.

  6. We do not usually consider unrevised Ph.D dissertations.

  7. Please forward your submission to: Greg Clingham, Director, Bucknell University Press, Taylor Hall, Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
