High-Performance Virtual Laboratory
This "virtual laboratory" consists of a 16-processor Linux cluster-computer that can be accessed remotely from any computer in the departmental network. Each of its 8 boards has two Intel Xeon 2.66GHz processors, 512K bytes of cache, 4G bytes of RAM, and a 40G byte hard-disk unit. The computer is installed with MPI for communication across boards and is well-suited for experiments and projects in high-performance, distributed computing.
This laboratory is currently used for student and faculty research.
