Access to the Collections
The collections are available to faculty, students, and staff of Bucknell University, alumni, and community researchers. Stacks areas are closed to the public. Researchers are encouraged to make an appointment by contacting email@example.com or (570) 577-3101 so staff may prepare for your visit.
Availability of Materials
The Bertrand Library endorses the American Library Association/Society of American Archivists Joint Statement on Access to Original Research Materials. The physical condition and restriction of material may affect the availability and use of some materials, particularly for reproduction through photography, scanning, or photocopying. Materials are not available for use outside the LaFayette Butler Reading Room. Researchers are required to sign in the department and adhere to the Access and Use Policy.
Special collections materials are cataloged and searchable by title, author, or keyword from the Bertrand Library's online catalog. To limit your search specifically to the Bertrand Library's special collections, enter "special collections" (with quotes) as a keyword along with your other search terms. Staff are available for assistance identifying special collections materials by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or (570) 577-3101.
Staff are in the process of a long-term, multi-year project to bring access to the University Archives and manuscript collections by processing these materials according to established archival principles and standards with the goal of creating suitable finding aids or guides to the collections. At this time, researchers must contact the Special Collections/University Archives department email@example.com or (570) 577-3101 to determine if the materials they are seeking are available.
