Samek Art GalleryDigital Image CollectionIntroduction to the Collection | | The Samek Art Gallery’s Pilot Project is a database of images representing a portion of the Samek Art Gallery’s permanent collection. One goal of the collection is to showcase materials from the Gallery and make them more accessible to Bucknell faculty and students in various disciplines throughout campus. We also hope that scholars and students from other institutions, as well as regional, national, and international art enthusiasts, will benefit from being able to access these materials. Digital images represent the diversity of materials in the Gallery’s holdings and include images of objects from Europe, North and South America, Africa, China, Japan, and the Pacific region. The collection is composed of artwork from ancient times to contemporary pieces and includes a variety of media formats. The digital collection is housed in Luna Imaging Inc.’s Insight software. | The pilot project was released in April 2005. Additional images will be added in April 2006. | Viewing Tools | The collection is viewable through Insight software. The collection is available to the public. | Metadata Schema | The metadata schema used was loosely based VRA Core 3.0. | Access | Click here to access the collection via the Insight web browser.
