Luna Insight SoftwareAbout InsightInsight is a software program designed to build, store, and provide access to collections of digital images. ISR has used Insight to create several collections of images used by members of the Bucknell community. Bucknell faculty, staff, and students are able to access these collections as well as collections from other institutions such as the Allentown Art Museum, Stanford University, Cornell University, the John Carter Brown Library, and the University of California. Collections cover a wide range of subjects and can be used as an educational tool in a variety of disciplines. Insight can be accessed in two ways: either through a web browser or through a JVA client that needs to be installed on a personal machine. The web-based version of Insight does not have the full functionality of the software, but it is a useful tool for quickly browsing images or for guests viewing Bucknell collections. One caveat: pop-up windows MUST be enabled in order to use the web-based version of Insight. For in-depth review of images for class-related purposes, ISR recommends using the client version of Insight. All Bucknell classrooms, laboratory, library, and faculty machines have Insight installed. Computers obtained through the university's laptop purchase program also have Insight installed on them. Installing InsightFrom the Bucknell Network: | - Mac Users: choose Go » Connect to Server... and choose smb://software.netspace.bucknell.edu/software/macintosh and navigate to the folder campus » Luna Insight and choose the file: installInsight.app
- Copy the file to your desktop.
- Double-click the Insight Installer icon on your desktop. Click Continue. Drag the Insight Installer icon onto your hard drive.
- During installation, you will have the option of choosing Typical Installation or Advanced Installation. You must select Advanced Installation. Click Next to continue. Please use the default Insight installation location and location for Insight icons.
- In the Advanced Settings screen, you will be asked to specify the URL address for your Insight User Manager. Change this to: luna.bucknell.edu
- Everything else should be installed without any changes to the default installation settings.

- Visit the vendor's website at www.lunaimaging.com
- Navigate to the Software Downloads page by clicking the Support link, then selecting Software Downloads. You may also access this page directly by entering the url www.lunaimaging.com/downloads/index.html into your browser.
- Under the Luna Insight JAVA Client Download table choose the link with the most recent version and the appropriate platform for your machine (Windows or Macintosh), and Save the installer file to your desktop. Once the download completes, double-click the icon to begin installation.
