Women's and Gender StudiesWomen's Resource Center: The primary goal of the Women's Resource Center is to foster a campus community in which women and men can live and work in a climate of mutual respect, understanding, and equality, and where women are encouraged to reach their full potential. The staff and Advisory Board will work toward the feminist goal of affirming the dignity of all women and empowering them to control their own life choices. Through a variety of co-curricular supportive services, educational, cultural, and social programs, we try to address the needs of women on campus, with special emphasis on the needs of students. Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender: The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender supports faculty development, scholarship, and interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration on issues of race, ethnicity, and gender and their intersections with other aspects of difference. Office for Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender Awareness: The Office of LGBT Awareness, is committed to making Bucknell a safe place for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. This is accomplished by supporting student groups and efforts to educating and increase awareness about LGBT issues and current public policy concerns. The Office is guided by an advisory board comprised of students, faculty, staff, and administrators who are interested in and committed to the mission of the Office. Office of Multicultural Affairs: The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is dedicated to developing multicultural and international perspectives through educational programming offered to the larger Bucknell community. The OMA also offers guidance to individual students and assists in their acclimation to the Bucknell Community. American Association of University Women: Internship, Public Policy and Government Relations http://www.aauw.org/About/career/upload/internPublicPolicy.pdf AAUW’s Public Policy and Government Relations Department seeks two to three interns to work with both its legislative and grassroots teams each quarter/semester. Interns will learn about the legislative process and provide grassroots assistance to members. Past interns have had the opportunity to monitor legislation, participate in lobby visits, attend Congressional hearings and press conferences, and respond to requests from policy-makers and members. FMF seeks highly motivated undergraduate students with an interest in public policy and political science, particularly in areas concerning gender, human rights and development.
