Amy Brand,  Class of 1988

  • Current Career: Project Manager - CH2M Hill
    Senior Community Involvement Specialist - Specialize in designing and implementing community involvement programs that enable the public to participate in environmental decision-making. 

  • Past Positions:  Director of Marketing - Architecture / Engineering Firm

  • Graduate Degree: M.S. Environmental Policy and Behavior - University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment 

  • Additional Info: A degree in geography, with a focus on physical geography and geology, prepared her very well for a career in environmental consulting. She would be happy to talk to students interested in following a similar career path.

Thomas P. Cody,  Class of 1980

  • Past Positions:  City Planner, Westiminster, CO, 1985-88; Planning Assistant, Arvada, CO 1984-85; Associate, Robinson & Cole 1991-98; Partner, Robinson & Cole, 1998-present.

  • Graduate Degree: Masters in Planning and Community Development from University of Colorado at Denver in 1984; J.D. From William & Mary Law School in 1991.

  • Additional Info: Has been practicing Land Use Law for 13 years and is Co-Chair of the Land Use Group. Married to Mary Ellen; two sons, Patrick, 6 and Kevin, 4.

Kimberly Colvin,  Class of 1987

  • Current Career: Environmental Work - Coordinating a stream monitoring project for citizens (The Haw River Watch Project). Along with her husband, she runs a small organic farm and sells produce two times a week at their local farmer's market.

  • Past Positions:  Her and her husband renovated, built, and sold homes for ten years, employing passive and active solar systems when possible.

Anthony E. Costa, Class of 1982

  • Current Career: Region director - U.S. General Services Administration's Public Buildings Service (National Capital Region). 

  • Past Positions:  Various other positions at GSA, including environmental policy and planning director and chief of staff for GSA's Public Building Service.

  • Graduate Degree: Master's degree in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill

Jerry Cox,  Class of 1996

  • Current Career: Director - Hartford Insurance

  • Past Positions:  Operations manager at GE Capital. Finance Manager at GE Capital. Six Sigma Black Belt at GE Capital

  • Graduate Degree: Currently pursuing an MBA at University of Connecticut with an anticipated graduation date of December 2002

Larry Daniel,  Class of 1984

  • Current Career: President & CEO of Conclusive Strategies. Deals in market analysis, GIS and direct marketing.

  • Past Positions:  Past president of a geobusiness association and prior vice president of Castillo Company, Phoenix.

  • Graduate Degree: MA in Geography from the University of Texas (1997)

  • Additional Info: Has authored books on two geographic information system (GIS) packages--"Inside MapInfo Professional" and "Inside ArcView GIS"

Adam T. Dresser, Class of 1990

  • Current Career: Hydrologist - U.S. Forest Service

  • Graduate Degree: M.S. in Watershed Management from Humboldt State University

Ian Ferguson,  Class of 1985

  • Current Career: Major, U.S. Marine Corps. Military Occupational Speciality: Infantry Officer. Currently assigned to Office of the Secretary of Defense (Reserve Affairs).

  • Past Positions:  U.S. Marine Corps 1985-Present. Positions held include: Platoon Commander, Executive Officer, Tactics Instructor, Student, Company Commander, Operations Officer, Director of Division Schools, MEF Training Officer, Action Officer at HQMC.

  • Graduate Degree: M.A., U.S. Naval War College, 2001

  • Additional Info: He has used geography throughout his career and has been literally around the world. He has found that despite "globalization" and technological improvements, geography is still very relevant.
