Bucknell offers SBDC workshops

LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Small Business Development Center at Bucknell University will offer workshops at the SBDC Business Education Center, Room 207 Chamberlin Building, Fifth and Market streets in Lewisburg.
Seating is limited for each workshop. Registration is required for each of the workshops by calling the SBDC at 570-577-1249, or by emailing the SBDC at SBDC@bucknell.edu, or online at http://www.bucknell.edu/sbdc/seminars.html.
"Basic Financial Statement Analysis for Small Retail and Service Businesses" will be held May 31 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The attendance fee is $30 and includes handouts and refreshments.
Presenters will be SBDC staff Maureen Hauck, assistant director for business consulting, and Anthony Kidd, business analyst. Topics to be covered include: overview of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements; relationship between the financial statements; and analysis of business results from financial statements.
"Basics of Selling on eBay" will be held June 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The attendance fee is $50 and includes handouts and lunch.
Marguerite Swope, eBay PowerSeller, education specialist, trading assistant, and consultant, will discuss such topics as how to register as a seller on eBay and how to take an eBay listing from start to finish, including researching the item, listing it on eBay, and completing the sale.
A two-part workshop will be held June 6. "eBay: Beyond the Basics for the Serious Seller" will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon, and "eBay Stores" from 1 to 4 p.m. The fee is $30 for each session and includes handouts and refreshments. Lunch will be provided to attendees of both sessions.
Marguerite Swope will lead two sessions aimed at entrepreneurs, new small business owners and people who wants to learn about online selling and buying.
The first session, "Beyond the Basics," will examine how to start and/or grow an eBay-based business, listings and stores, marketing your business on eBay, managing your listings, and completing the sale. Participants will view a live demonstration of listing an actual item.
The second session, "eBay Stores," will examine how to customize, market, and manage your eBay store including make store inventory listings, brand your store, cross-promote your items, understand sales and traffic reports, promote your store and a brief introduction to proStores.
