Club-Varsity is a relatively new athletic classification at Bucknell University. The club-varsity program, which currently incorporates Men's Crew, provides athletes with many of the same training and competitive opportunities as varsity athletics, but requires that the teams be self-funding.

Bucknell Associate Athletic Director, Karen Landis along with the Bucknell Crew Association Board of Directors, recently announced that Dan Wolleben has been appointed the new Head Coach of the Men's Club Varsity Crew team. Coach Wolleben just completed his seventh year at Bucknell as an assistant coach for the women's team.

"Not only has Dan Wolleben shown that he is an outstanding coach, but he has achieved an impressive track record of recruiting and developing student-athletes," said Landis. "Bucknell places great emphasis on developing the highest caliber student-athletes, both on and off the water, and we believe that Coach Wolleben is a perfect fit to lead our Men's Club Varsity Crew program and successfully build on our established traditions."

"I am extremely grateful to Karen Landis, the Bucknell Crew Association, and Bucknell for this opportunity," said Wolleben. "I have enjoyed my seven years of coaching at Bucknell, and am excited for this new endeavor. It has been great to watch the Men's Crew program develop over the years, and I am thrilled to be able to help lead the program into the future."

Wolleben is a Fordham Hall of Fame rower, personal holder of three Dad Vail Regatta Gold Medals, a three time CRCA Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the year, and 2012 National Assistant Coach of the Year.
