Educational Background
B.Sc. Biology, Tel Aviv University
M.Sc. Ecology and Environmental Quality, Tel Aviv University
Ph.D. Zoology, Tel Aviv University

Teaching Interests
Entomology, Insect-plant interactions, Biological control

Research Interests

Taxonomy and systematics of gall midges
        (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae)

Ecology of gall-inducing insects

Developmental anatomy and physiology of insect galls

Biological control of weeds

In my current research I use molecular and behavioral methods to study speciation processes in gall midges developing on goldenrods. Previous research focused on taxonomy, systematics and ecology of a large group of gall midges that develop on desert plants in Israel. In a more recent research in South Africa (2002-2003) I studied the ecology of gall-inducing wasps that are used as biological control agents against alien invasive weeds - a study that also focused on developmental anatomy and physiology of the galls.
