Tulu Bayar
Art & Art History | |
Tulu Bayar, installation and photography artist, was born and raised in Turkey. She received her BA from the University of Ankara and her MFA from the University of Cincinnati. She has taught a variety of photography classes at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton. Bayar has exhibited and has held artist residencies in numerous locations in the United States and Turkey.
Bayar's photography and sound installation based work addresses contemporaneous issues specific to the human condition. The most important part of her creative process is the research of and collaboration with people whose lives are directly affected by these issues. Narratives are fabricated through this collaborative effort by photographing and recording instances of life experiences of several people with diverse backgrounds. Through connections she finds within these narratives, one story emerges and is presented in a fictive pseudo-documentary fashion.
Bayar resides in Pennsylvania during the academic year and in California during the summer.
