The Environment in Cross-Cultural Perspective

Course Description: 

In this course, we will evaluate interactions between peoples and environment using an interdisciplinary approach. Using selected works from anthropology, history, geography, and literature, we will explore how different places come to be associated with particular meanings and why. In addition to pursuing these objectives through reading assignments and class discussions, I will ask you to draw on your own memories and experiences to explore which environments are meaningful to you and why.
