ANTH 260
Anthropological Perspectives on Human-Environment Relations
Description:
This course is an environmental anthropology course. If anthropology is the study of human diversity, then environmental anthropology considers the diversity of human relations in different environments (natural and built). Through readings, films, and discussions, we will explore the ways different societies interact with and define the environment, including how different groups make a living from the environment, how languages classify the environment, how the environment inspires different spiritual, moral and religious values, and how values are transformed and/or reinforced by their interaction with a global monetary economy.
