SO 280

20th Century Afro-Caribbean and African-American Thought

This course is designed to give students exposure and insight into the contributions of Afro-Caribbean and African-American intellectuals and scholars who are normally either marginalized in sociology courses or are not mentioned at all.  It also provides students with an opportunity to benefit from the rich legacy of their contributions, while interrogating the Eurocentric canon as the only valid source of knowledge.
