T. Elizabeth Durden received her Ph.D. in sociology and demography from the University of Texas at Austin. She has previously published research on race/ethnic inequalities in health care access, marriage patterns of Mexican Americans and the emergence of democracy within Mexico. Her current research project centers around indigenous Mexican immigration from the Yucatan to the United States.
