Undergraduate Students

Bucknell's ideal size encourages a sense of community. Professors support their students and challenge them to excel in everything they do. Dedicated to teaching, professors have time to make sure learning occurs, even stopping by residence halls in the evening to take part in discussions and review papers. Professors and students choreograph dances together and perform together in the orchestra; faculty members invite students to participate in research projects. At Bucknell, students take an active role in learning, collaborating with faculty on many projects.

Beyond their close relationships with professors and other university staff, students form close bonds with each other. First-year students live on campus, and their social life -- and the beginning of lifelong friendships -- is built around residential life and campus activities. Students are actively engaged at Bucknell -- from volunteer work in the community and sports and club activities to throwing impromptu parties for their friends.

All of this is combined into a special experience for students. A strong academic program, a wide array of resources and opportunities, and a caring, nurturing environment form the basis of a strong sense of community at Bucknell.
