1951 - Special Guests
Weekends
November 9,10,11 1951
Many years ago, when Bucknell University was still very young, a bond was formed between our school and the Burmese people which has grown stronger as the years have gone by. The Burmese students who attended Bucknell in its early days, as well as Eugene Kincaid and others who founded the University, formed the first really strong link in the bond. But, since then, it has been an ever-growing interchange among students, professors, and other citizens of both countries, which has made the chain become a strong and real thing. In these days when we are struggling for one world, a mutual understanding between East and West such as we are working for in this, our fourth weekend together, is of major importance.
We, who have attended such weekends before, have some idea of their full meaning. Those whom it brings together for the first time, perhaps may come away with a richer experience in living together for one world. This is our wish.
