Word Document Sponsor Evaluation
Externship Orientation Sessions-Interested students are required to attend an Orientation Session. The session will provide an overview of the program, and will be held during the late spring semester of a student's first year and the early fall semester of a student's sophomore year. Students need to only attend one session.
Externship Resume Critiques
Students applying to the Externship Program are required to have their resume critiqued by the CDC before they apply to externships on the BRIDGE. CDC staff and peers have various times available to assure resumes can be critiqued before the application deadline. During the academic year, peers are available in the CDC office Monday-Friday from 10:00 AM until 4:30 PM to critique resumes. Students do not need an appointment.
Externship Resumania
This is a walk in time for sophomores to have resume critiques to meet application requirements for the Externship Program. Critiques will be completed on a first come, first serve basis.
Applying to Externships and the Participation Agreement-Sophomores can apply to no more than 6 externships on the Bucknell's Web-Based System eRecruiting.com, known on Bucknell’s campus as the BRIDGE: http://bucknell.experience.com/er/security/login.jsp
Students must apply by UPLOADING and ATTACHING a resume and statement of interest to the BRIDGE for each externship they are interested in. (Instructions for using the BRIDGE for externships)
Deadline for all externship applications will be October 27, 2009. Students are also required to turn in their signed Participation Agreement by the deadline.
Entering Externship Preferences-After students apply to externships on the BRIDGE they are required to go to this website: http://www.bucknell.edu/x2688.xml to select each externship they applied to in rank order of their preference of being matched to it (1=first choice).
Preferences must be entered on the website by the application deadline for consideration of obtaining an externship match.
Externship Matches
Students will receive an e-mail in mid-November with their externship match or no-match information. In the case that a student is not matched to an externship he or she applied to, the student can reapply to open externships and work closely with the Manager of Externships on alternative solutions.
Externship Preparation Sessions
After students receive externship matches in mid-November they will be required to attend an Externship Preparation Session. This will be a less than 30 minute session that will review student responsibilities as an extern, what to prepare before the externship and the next step of calling the externship sponsor to make arrangements.
Student Responsibilities and Other Important Information
Bucknell’s Externship Program is be voluntary and you will not be paid nor receive academic credit. Additionally, you will be responsible for all expenses associated with this experience, including housing, transportation, food, parking and other related costs. Once an externship has been arranged, you will be expected to attend in full. Failure to do so will result in your inability to participate in additional CDC, University-organized events in the spring semester, including the spring industry/career fairs and networking events held both on and off campus.
