Bachelor of Science in Education

Successful completion of this program leads to recommendation for Pennsylvania Teacher Certification for Nursery School through Grade 3.

Throughout the program, students take a combination of general education and professional education courses. Several field experiences are built into the program to give students opportunities to apply their developing knowledge and skills to real children in real classrooms.

The program culminates with the student-teaching experience, which occurs during either the fall or spring semester of the senior year. Students not planning to teach in Pennsylvania are encouraged to investigate the requirements in other states. For example, some states require an academic concentration consisting of at least six courses.

Keep in mind that the program is structured to help you achieve two goals:

(1) a B.S. degree from Bucknell and
(2) a Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate (N-3).

If you choose to pursue this program, we strongly urge you to consult carefully and frequently with an adviser from the Education Department.
