Emily Ostrom, '04

Spending a year abroad at the Universität Hamburg with Smith College was a wonderful experience! Not only was I able to cement the rudiments of the German language, but I was able to advance my understanding of the culture through personal experiences. I found my second home and family in the city of Hamburg and found it very difficult to leave a city I have grown to love. Fortunately, I will be returning for the academic year of 2004-05 on a Fulbright scholarship! The education I received from the German professors at Bucknell prepared me for my year abroad, and, because of their expertise and knowledge, allowed me to make great progress upon my return to the States. My study of the German language both in the States with my professors and abroad in Hamburg, Germany have made my Bucknell experience excellent.
