Prospective Students

Why is the office called "Pre-Health Professions Advising" instead of Pre-Med?

Although medicine is the primary health profession Bucknell students pursue, it is not the only one. Help is available for students who are considering a profession related to the health of humans or animals (Allopathic Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Optometry, Podiatry, Physician's Assistant, Nursing, etc.)

Is there a Pre-Medical Major at Bucknell University?

No, there are no pre-med or pre-vet majors at Bucknell University. Students may major in any field of study they choose and still pursue a health professions career as long as the student also completes the pre-requisite courses required by medical or dentistry colleges. Below is a link to the page that lists all of the academic departments at Bucknell University which then list courses required for majors and minors. Please go to Current Pre-Health students page and click your area of interest to find course requirements for pre-medicine, pre-dentistry etc.
