Head Athletic Trainer Edgar H. “Hal” Biggs (center) The head athletic trainer of Bucknell’s athletic teams from 1948-86, Hal Biggs is a past president of the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Society, has served on the Board of Directors of the National Athletic Trainers Association and was inducted into the Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 1983. He worked with five head football coaches at Bucknell and missed only one game. A pioneer in the development of special equipment to protect and prevent injuries, Biggs initiated a highly respected program for teaching athletic training to undergraduates. Today the Hal Biggs Award is presented to Bucknell’s most outstanding student athletic trainer. (Bucknell Hall of Fame Class of 1984)
