Bucknell Subscriptions for Career & Industry Information Resources
The CDC subscribes to a number of on-line resources that you will find valuable in assisting you with your career research and decision making. These resources are available only to Bucknellians and are password protected. Check out myBucknell or email the CDC for access information.
Outside Resources:
- U.S. Dept. of Labor- the U.S. Department of Labor annually produces two guides that are available: The Occupational Outlook Handbook and Career Guide to Industries; available here.
- O*NET Online - connects skills with different occupation, great resource when you are developing a resume or cover letter.
- Career Key - self-assessment inventory that is paired with occupation descriptions. For a quick and helpful way to organize career research by your interests, select "Match Your Personality with Careers" under Career Options and scroll to the six linked categories on the bottom of the page.
- MyPlan Values Assessment - a values "card-sort" that pairs your prioritized values with occupations. Note: this is a free assessment but you must register to get the results.
- Career Voyages - describes industries that are expected to have high growth in the coming years.
- Industry Portals -major sources of information for over 100 U.S. industries
- IndustryLink - manufacturing web sites listed by industry
- The Sloan Career Cornerstone Center - a resource center for those interested in careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computing and medicine.
