A football and basketball standout, Joe Gallagher received All-East and Little All-America mention as a football end on Bucknell’s 1951 team that finished unbeaten at 9-0. Gallagher set a school career basketball scoring record, and was twice on the All-Pennsylvania basketball squad. Gallagher captained the 1951-52 basketball team, and his 17.7 career scoring average still ranks fifth in school history. He was Bucknell’s first-ever 1,000-point scorer and finished with 1,183 points. (Bucknell Hall of Fame Class of 1981)
