Joseph J. Buzas ’41
BaseballAn outstanding baseball and basketball player, as well as a boxer, at Bucknell, Buzas had a career batting average of .378, the fourth-best in Bucknell history. He played professional baseball and owned numerous minor league teams. He signed with the New York Yankees in 1941 and made it to the major leagues as a shortstop in 1945, posting a .262 batting average in 30 games before a shoulder injury cut his career short. He spent some time as a minor league manager and went on to own 82 minor league franchises. (Bucknell Hall of Fame Class of 1981)
