Adding an Image to a Page

There are two steps to adding an image to a page – Uploading the image and Inserting

A note about Image Size

  • When resizing an image for your page, a good size is 225 or 250 pixels wide.
  • Headshots of speakers or guests often work well at 110 x 110 pixels.
  • If you want your image to fill the entire width of the page, make it 585 pixels wide.
  • If you're using the image in a Featurette, make the image no more than 285 pixels wide.
  • Make sure you use the "Save for Web" feature available in Photoshop. You can use the "2-Up" or “4-Up” tab to check the image quality and upload speed. You will typically want JPG as your format and Medium as your quality.

UPLOADING

Upload

To upload an image, choose the Assets icon from the main menu.

The "Manage Assets" dialog box will appear.

Select "Images" and expand the folder by clicking on the + sign.

Navigate to the image folder for your area.

Image folders follow this pattern:
images/Depts/ OR
Images/Orgs/

Reminder: Images and Documents are stored in different folders in Ingeniux.

Browse for the image you want to upload from your desktop or your public netspace folder.

Scale Image: Ingeniux 6.0 allows you to scale images during upload. This is helpful for high quality images that just need to have their physical dimensions and file size reduced.

To size your image when you upload, check "Scale Image" at the upload screen. When your image thumbnail appears, select "Keep Aspect Ratio". This will proportionally size your image.

Click "Upload".

A success message will not appear, but your uploaded image will be listed at the top of the folder.

Note: If an image already exists in your folder with the same name, you will be prompted and given a choice of whether or not to replace the file.

INSERTING IMAGE ON PAGE

Insert your cursor in the Body Copy area where you want the image to appear. Click on the “Insert Image” icon. (PC users can also right click and choose “Insert/Edit Image”).Insert Image

The Image Properties box will appear.

Click on the box to the right of “Image URL” and navigate to the folder where you uploaded your image.

Select the image you want, and choose “OK”.

(Note: You can also use any Bucknell image found in the “General” folder.)

The Image Properties window will return. It will display the Image URL and the Dimensions.

Set your other image properties (such as the Image description, and Alignment), and then hit Insert.

Remember: DO NOT manually change the size of your image once you've placed it on a page. This will result in poor image quality. Instead, simply upload multiple size versions.

To convert your image to a link, click on the image to select it and then click the Insert Link icon .
