William E. Thomson Class of '57, Intellectual Property Litigation Attorney, Former Mayor of Pasadena, CA

William Thomson litigated a broad spectrum of complex patent and other intellectual property cases, particularly pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, and computer technology matters.  An accomplished trial lawyer, Thomson has represented major clients in jury and court trials, and before the International Trade Commission.  Among the may cases he has litigated, Thomson represented Panavision International in the seminal Internet domain name case, Panavision International, L.P. v. Dennis Toeppen et. al.  Thomson also counsels clients on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and licensing matters, and is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property issues.  He is a member of the California Bar and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.  Thomson received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and is a graduate of Bucknell University, where he earned a B.S. in chemical engineering.  Thomson also has a distinguished record of leadership as the Mayor of Pasadena, California from 1988 to 1990, as a member of the Pasadena City Council from 1981 to 1997, and currently as a member of the Board of Trustees of Pasadena City College.

JoAnn Patrick Ezzell, President and CEO of Synergistic Systems

Ms. JoAnn Patrick Ezzell has been the President and CEO of Synergistic Systems since 2001. Prior to serving at this global management consulting firm, she served as the Chairman and CEO of iAsia Works, an internet host provider. Ms. Ezzell was also the President and CEO of AT&T Asia/Pacific. Having graduated from Bucknell University in 1975 with a BA in economics, she went on to the Stanford Graduate School of Business where she received an MS in management. At Stanford, she was a Sloan Fellow and is currently a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Sloan Program advisory board.


Ms. Harriet Edelman, Retired CEO of Avon

Ms. Harriet Edelman served as the Senior Vice President of Business Transformation and the Chief Information Officer of Avon from 2000 to 2008. During her more than 25 years working at Avon Products, Inc., she held positions of leadership in the fields of marketing, sales, supply chain management, planning, and customer service. She has also served as the Group Vice President of Global Operations, the Vice President of Customer Service, Senior Vice President of Global Operations, and Group Vice President of North American Supply Chain of Avon Products, Inc. Since early 2008, she has been a Director of Brinker International Inc. and Ariba Inc. Ms. Edelman also served as a Director of Hershey Co. from 2003 to 2007. After graduating from Bucknell University with a BA in music, she earned her MBA in marketing from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business.

Joseph M. Pastore, Ph.D.

Dr. Joseph M. Pastore, Jr., is Professor Emeritus (in Residence), Lubin School of Business, Pace University.  He holds a bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University, an M.B.A. from Pace University, and a Ph.D. from Saint Louis University.  Dr. Pastore has served as Executive Vice President at Boston College, as Dean of the School of Business and Vice President and Provost at St. Bonaventure University, as Dean of the Lubin School of Business, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, and University Provost at Pace University.  Beyond teaching, Dr. Pastore has authored, co-authored, or edited over forty articles, monographs, papers, and book chapters and has lectured in executive development programs for such organizations as Verizon Communications, British Telecommunications, AT&T, Swiss Re, Monsanto, IBM, Prudential-Bache Securities, Technicon, Corning, Reader's Digest, and Dresser Industries.  Dr. Pastore was named in to the arbitration panels of the American Arbitration Association and Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. 


Mr. Vandy Van Wagener, Evergreen IP

Mr. Van Wagener is the Principal and Chief Marketer of Evergreen IP. He has over thirty years of experience in marketing, general management and new products. Mr. Van Wagener worked for Procter & Gamble for twenty-two years and became the Vice President in their Asia Pacific operations. In addition, he has served as CEO and Director or Advisor to several other firms. Van Wagener received his MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth and graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College. He currently lives in Denver with his wife and three children.
