Nathaniel Kahn
Director and Writer
Nathaniel Kahn’s internationally acclaimed film My Architect: A Son’s Journey was born of his multiyear quest to come to know his father, Louis Kahn, from the latter’s messy personal life to his brilliant architecture. The illegitimate child of one of Louis Kahn’s three concurrent families, Nathaniel Kahn is splendidly positioned to plumb the former; an insightful filmmaker, he shows himself equally adept at documenting Louis Kahn’s stunning heritage—from the Phillips Exeter Library to the government complex in Bangladesh. The ‘cast’ includes Louis Kahn (archival), and such architectural familiars as Frank Gehry, Robert Stern, and Philip Johnson. The film stands as both a son’s appreciative tribute and a frank study in obsession and genius.
Nathaniel Kahn will join us to introduce the film and for an open discussion with the audience after the showing.
