David Billington
Princeton University

David Billington is Gordon Y.S. Wu Professor of Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University and currently serves as the director of the Program in Architecture and Engineering. His book The Tower and the Bridge (1983) bridged the fields of structural engineering and art history. He is the author of several books on the work of bridge designers Robert Maillart and Christian Menn. Prof. Billington has consulted worldwide on the design and aesthetics of major bridges. He has received numerous teaching awards and his courses at Princeton are consistently among the most popular with both engineering and liberal arts students.
