John Ikerd, Ph.D.
University of Missouri

 
Raised on a small dairy farm in southwest Missouri, Dr. John Ikerd received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri in Agricultural Economics. Dr. Ikerd worked in Extension Agricultural Economics positions at North Carolina State University from 1970-76, at Oklahoma State University from 1976-84, and was Head of Extension Agricultural Economics at the University of Georgia from 1984-89. He returned to the University of Missouri in 1989 to provide state and national leadership for research and education programs related to sustainable agriculture. Since his retirement to Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics in 2000, Dr. Ikerd spends most of his time writing and speaking widely on issues of sustainable agriculture. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and is currently at work on a book addressing sustainable economics.
