Joan Ramon Resina

Joan Ramon Resina is Professor of Romance Studies and Film Studies at Cornell University, where in addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he serves as editor of the journal Diacritics. Professor Resina has published numerous books and anthologies on issues of urbanism, memory, and modernity, most notably Un sueño de piedra: Ensayos sobre la literatura del modernismo europeo (1990) and El cadáver en la cocina (Barcelona, 1997). He has most recently edited Disremembering the Dictatorship: The Politics of Memory in the Spanish Transition to Democracy and Iberian Cities. His book El aeroplano y la estrella: el movimiento de vanguardia en los Paises Catalanes, 1904-1936 (1997) examined the particular characteristics of Catalán modernity in the arts and letters. His published articles include: “The Role of Discontinuity in the Formation of National Culture” (1995), “Hispanism and its Discontents” (1996), and “Historical Discourse and the Propaganda Film: Reporting the Revolution in Barcelona” (1998).
