Ben Wisner is Visiting Professor at Bucknell University during Spring 2003. He divides his time between bases in the Environmental Studies Program at Oberlin College and two research centers in London: the Crisis States Program, Development Studies Institute, London School of Economics and the Benfield Greig Hazard Research Centre in the Department of Geological Science, University College London. He is co-author of At Risk: Natural Hazards, People’s Vulnerability, and Disasters (London: Routlege, 1994; 2nd edition in press), Power and Need in Africa: Basic Human Needs and Development Policy (London: Earthscan, 1988), and is co-creator and editor of a website dedicated to “radical interpretations of disaster and radical solutions”, RADIX: www. anglia.ac.uk/ geography/radix. His most recent consulting work has been for the UNDP, WHO, United Nations University, and FEMA.
