Visible Chemistry Faculty Professional Service(back to top) Professor Strein is speaking in and co-organizing (with Cynthia Larive of UC Riverside) a symposium entitled,"Spectroscopic Insights to Separation Processes" at PittCon '07 in Chicago, Illinois on February 28, 2007. Professor Castle is currently serving (2006-2007) as the chair of the Susquehanna Valley Section of the American Chemical Society. Prof. Casteel is currently serving (2006-2007) as Councilor to the Susquehanna Valley Section of the American Chemical Society Prof. Strein served as Program Co-chair for the 2006 Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Hershey, PA. Prof’s Williams, Stockland, Tillman, McGuire Strein, Rovnyak, and Kastner served as technical session chairs at the 2006 Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Hershey, PA.
Awards and Honors
(back to top) Two chemistry students win national awards: Brit Merola, a senior Chemistry major from Great Meadows, NJ received funding through the ACS Women Chemists Committee (WCC) to present her work entitled "Temperature effects on the diffuse reflectance spectra of nontronite clays" at the 2006 Fall ACS National Meeting in San Francisco. Brit works with Prof. McGuire. Adam Catherman, a Junior Cheistry major for Sellinsgrove, PA received funding through the American Chemical Society (ACS) Analytical Division to present his work at PittCon’07 in Chicago, Ill in February of 2007. Adam works with Prof. Strein.
