Alternative Spring Break Civil Rights Trip

In the Spring of 2005 the Office of Service Learning helped organize the first Alternative Spring Break Civil Rights Trip. Now in its third year, the trip continues to be a successful and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

This year's trip, sponsored in collaboration with the Office of Service-Learning, the Office of Housing and Residential Life, and Multicultural Student Services, took place from March 10 through March 17. Nineteen Bucknell students and staff traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, to investigate the unfinished legacy of the civil rights movement.

The group met with civil rights leaders , visited historical sites, participated in service-learning projects in Memphis, and earned University credit.
