St. Lawrence String Quartet

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16
8 pm | $20

Heidi Grant Murphy, soprano
Kevin Murphy, piano
Geoff Nuttall & Scott St. John, violins
Lesley Robertson, viola
Christopher Costanza, cello

A recent work for soprano, piano, and string quartet is featured on a program which includes Ernest Chausson’s Chanson Perpetuelle for the same forces, as well as a selection of Schubert songs and string quartets by Haydn and Dvoˇrák. After an exquisite recital in the Weis Center three seasons ago, Metropolitan Opera star Heidi Grant Murphy, most recently heard there as the God Amor in the Mark Morris production of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and pianist Kevin Murphy return for this special and varied program of beautiful music. The St. Lawrence String Quartet has performed over 1700 concerts in the past 17 years. In 1992, the quartet won both the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, launching a career which has taken them across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
