"If I closed my eyes and tried to imagine a school perfect for me, Bucknell would have been exactly what I imagined. I’m so lucky that I found a school that is such a perfect fit.

"By the end of the college search I was down to two universities. I did an overnight at each school, and after spending time on Bucknell’s campus, I knew it was where I belonged. I applied for early decision, was granted admission, and I haven’t regretted my decision for a second.

"There truly is a great balance here at Bucknell - everyone works hard and is motivated to do well academically, but they balance it well with the social and extracurricular aspects of college life."

Exciting possibilities

"Coming into Bucknell, I was set on a path toward law school, and felt that being a management major would get me to where I needed to be. After taking some business classes, I’ve seen a whole new world of possibilities open up for me that I never would have considered before.

"My major excites me. When I came here, I chose management simply because it was practical. Law school is certainly still a possibility, but with the Bucknell management program’s favorable reputation among the top business firms, entering the world of business is something I can certainly foresee in my future."

Leadership and confidence

"Within two weeks of coming to campus, I was chosen to serve on the Curriculum Committee. I am one of four students who help shape Bucknell’s curriculum. I sit on the committee with students, deans, professors, and faculty members, and the best part about it is that we are all equals. That shows how much importance the University puts on the needs and desires of its students.

"My leadership role in the Curriculum Committee gave me the confidence right away to get involved in other activities on campus. Last year, I was the team recruitment chair for Bucknell’s Relay for Life, and this year I am going to be one of two students in charge of the entire event. We are the second-biggest fundraising Relay in Pennsylvania, and I think that says a lot about the motivation of the students, faculty, and staff to make a difference.

"Serving as an orientation assistant is another amazing leadership opportunity. It gives me the chance to get incoming first-years excited about their lifelong relationship with Bucknell."
