Spanish Apocalypse

The most profusely illustrated of all medieval biblical texts, The Commentary on the Apocalypse by the monk Beatus, is the best example of 8th-century Hispanic sacred works. The Beatus is a milestone in the history of illumination, representing a highly creative time period in Spanish monastic culture. It is the most brilliantly illuminated version of the manuscript.
