Emerging Writer Fellowship: Application Guidelines
Stadler Center for Poetry
To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 21 years of age, must reside in the United States, must have received an advanced degree in creative writing with an emphasis in poetry (i.e. MFA, MA, PhD) no earlier than spring 2005, and must not be enrolled as a student during the period of the residency. (Persons enrolled in a college or university at the time of application are eligible). The Emerging Writer Fellowship is potentially renewable for a second year.
To apply, submit the following items by postal mail to the address shown below:
1. A letter of application.
2. A curriculum vitae.
3. Three letters of recommendation.
4. A poetry sample of no more than 10 typed pages.
No materials will be returned; please do not send originals. We strongly recommend that you include letters of recommendation with your other application materials. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that letters of recommendation are sent by the postmark deadline.
Application deadline for the 2010-11 Fellowship: postmarked by Wednesday, February 10, 2010.
Notification: late spring 2010.

Note to 2009-10 Stadler Fellowship applicants: If you applied for the 2009-10 Stadler Fellowship (December 6, 2009 deadline) and wish to apply for the 2010-11 Emerging Writer Fellowship, you may reactivate your previous recommendations letters. Applicants who choose this option must submit (or resubmit) a cover letter, CV, and writing sample.
