Costume History

Digital Image Collection

Introduction to the Collection

The Costume History Collection, a database of over 450 images, was developed from the Abridged History of Costume by Beverly and Stephen Sbarge, eds. The collection contains images portraying various hairstyles, jewelry, and garments. These fashions range from the ancient Egyptian to contemporary styles from such designers as Gianni Versace and Calvin Klein. Users can search by title, creator, culture or nationality, time period, century, or subject matter. To search across all fields, search by keyword.

The collection contains images licensed from a vendor, which are licensed specifically for educational use — classroom projection or personal research. Images may not be used in publications without written consent from the image owner. Please contact ISR's Digital Initiatives Group (dig@bucknell.edu) with any questions.
