Philip Roth Residence: Application Guidelines
Stadler Center for Poetry
To be eligible, an applicant must be more than 21 years of age, must reside in the United States, and must not be enrolled as a student in a college or university. (Persons enrolled in a college or university at the time of application are eligible). Some record of publication is desirable. Please note that the 2009-010 Roth Residence will be awarded to a prose writer (fiction or creative nonfiction). The term of the Residence is late August through mid-December 2009. Poets may apply in spring 2010 for the 2010-11 Residence.
To apply, submit the following items by postal mail to the address shown below:
1. A letter of application.
2. A curriculum vitae.
3. Three letters of recommendation.
4. A writing sample of no more than 20 typed pages of prose (fiction or creative nonfiction).
No materials will be returned; please do not send originals. We strongly recommend that you include letters of recommendation with your other application materials. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that letters of recommendation are sent by the postmark deadline.
Application deadline (for 2009-10 residence, open to a prose writer): postmarked by Saturday, February 21, 2009.
Notification: late spring 2009.
