Approximately 150 people assembled outside the uphill side of the Elaine Langone Center Monday night to show their support for Burmese people around the world, including those part of the campus community. The evening began with an address from President Brian C. Mitchell. He shared his deep concern for the families of current students, alumni and other friends in Burma (previously known as Myanmar). Mitchell offered his support on behalf of the University. He hoped the international community would respond to the violation of human rights in Burma. "It is our responsibility to have a global conscience and uphold the truth in a free and open environment," he said. Mitchell mentioned the special relationship the University shares with Burma.
