Basketball: Women to face UNC in NCAA first round
The Bison react to learning they'll face the Tar Heels in the NCAA Tournament's first round.
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell women's basketball team, entering their second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history, will face the University of North Carolina this weekend in the tournament's first round. || Game preview
The Bison, seeded No. 16, will go up against No. 1 seed UNC in the New Orleans Regional.
The matchup was carried live on ESPN's Selection Show with dozens of fans crowding the Elaine Langone Center Forum to watch the broadcast with the team and coaches.
The Bucknell-UNC game will be played in Nortfolk, Va., on Sunday, March 23. Game time is slated for 12 p.m. (E) and the contest will be broadcast regionally on ESPN2. The broadcast will also be available on ESPN360.
Bucknell finished the season 16-15, while the Tar Heels ran through the Atlantic Coast Conference undefeated. Their only two losses came against Tennessee and Connecticut.
Bucknell won an automatic berth to the tournament last week when they claimed the Patriot League championship in a convincing victory over Holy Cross. Their last NCAA appareance was in 2002.
