BS in Computer Science and Engineering

What have you been doing since you graduated?

I work with Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC). The work at NGC is very exciting. We work with all kinds of front-end technologies and use a variety of programming languages such as Ada, Fortran, C++, Java, and others. Our projects encompass every discipline of Computer Science, including AI, robotics, and data visualization, among others. On my first project, I got to work with undersea systems, on the second I worked with air radar systems, and now on my third assignment, I am working with space systems. The Bucknell CS program has prepared me well for all of these tasks.

Why did you choose to major in CS?

When you enjoy programming and you love computers, CS is the right choice for you (it is a passion for me.) I also enjoy learning about many disciplines within CS such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Game Programming, Visualization, and etc. Learning CS is just fun for me.

What did you most like about Bucknell?

The size of student population at Bucknell and the school environment just make Bucknell the perfect place to learn and enjoy the full college experience. With the small class sizes, I love how I got personal attention from my professors and how I got close to every one of my classmates. After classes, many of us studied together and we also hung out and had fun. At Bucknell, a lot of events happen on campus, what serves to provide a great sense of unity among students. There are always plenty of things to do at Bucknell.

Advice for incoming students

CS offers a very flexible schedule at Bucknell. While you will learn a great lot in classes, it is up to you to put to use what you  learn. Pursue meaningful and practical experiences: find good internships or work on research with your professors (it is never too early, so don't be shy to ask!)
