Faculty within Bucknell's College of Engineering have developed a study-abroad program specifically directed at engineering students. The primary focus in 2008 is energy production, utilization, and policy as well as transportation, pharmaceuticals manufacturing, and foreign culture. Sites to be visited include a nuclear power plant in France, the solar city of Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany, and ABB’s High Voltage Products manufacturing facility in Oerlikon, Switzerland. Twenty-three students traveled to Northern Ireland for 3 weeks to for a service learning and lecture tourThe theme this year: Northern Irish Cities: Representation and Resistance. Located in Derry, the students write detailed, reflective field notes about their service learning experiences and eight of the students present their reflections as blogs.Year in the Life
