How many externships can I apply to?
6. Remember if you apply to an externship and are matched with it you are required to complete it. Therefore, only apply to externships which interest you and you will able to complete.
How am I matched with an externship?
First an electronic systems looks at the preferences students entered into the online system. Next, a review committee consisting of members of the Alumni Relations/Career Development Staff and at least one student employee meet to make matches.
Do all students obtain an externship match?
No. Due to the overwhelming popularity of some of the externships, not all students will recieve an externship match. However, if a student is NOT matched, he or she will recieve an e-mail stating so. Then he or she will be able to look at a list of other available externships and choose from that list a externship they are interested in.
Can I obtain more than one externship?
No, each students can only obtain one externship. However, if you have an interest in networking with other externship sponsors please make an appointment with Missy or another CDC counselor during the Spring semester.
Who sponsors externships?
Sponsors are alumni, parents, employers and friends of the University are sponsors. Do you know someone who would make a good sponsor? Refer them to the site or pass their contact information onto Missy at m.gutkowski@bucknell.edu.
What happens if I do not complete my externship?
If you do not complete you externship you need to inform Missy right away. If you have a valid excuse you will be required to properly follow up with your sponsor. If you do not have a valid excuse you will be required to write an apology to your sponsor and you may have privileges to use the BRIDGE and attend certain events revoked for the remainder of the semester.
How can I help spread the word about the Externship Program?
Tell first year students and first semester sophomores about the program. Volunteer to attend externship events and contribute pictures and stories to add to the website.
