Scholarships in Music
Scholarships for Music Majors
A limited number of Arts Merit Scholarships are available for music majors in amounts up to $10,000, renewable annually as long as students satisfy department requirements. There is a two-tiered selection process, which begins with a prescreening period in the fall of 2009. During this time, students apply for academic admission to Bucknell and submit creative materials for review. This review is followed by invitation-only auditions during the Spring 2010 semester.
- Prescreening Period: September 1, 2009 - December 1, 2009
Audition Dates:
- Saturday, January 30, 2010
- Saturday, February 13, 2010
- Saturday, February 20, 2010 (Snow Date)
Please note that early-decision auditions must occur by November 24, 2009 and should be made by appointment with Brenda Ross (bross@bucknell.edu; 570-577-1216).
Candidates who would also like to apply for need-based aid will need to complete the College Scholarship Services (CSS) profile form and submit it to the Office of Financial Aid by January 1, 2009. For details about need-based aid, please visit www.bucknell.edu/financialaid.
Scholarships for Non-Majors
Bucknell offers a limited number of $2500 scholarships in music for non-majors. Recipients are selected from solo recordings submitted to the Department of Music at the time of application. The audition recording must be labeled with the candidate's name, intended major, and instrument. Recordings of ensemble performances will not be accepted. Recordings must be received by November 24, 2009 for early decision candidates or January 30, 2010 for regular decision candidates. Scholarship holders are required to participate in a music department ensemble and to take private lessons. Lesson fees are waived for these students. The scholarships are renewable annually provided that the student contributes positively to the ensemble and makes progress in lessons.
